European Green Deal takes the lead in our MFF survey

Last week, we launched a survey to hear what you think would be the most important area to invest in if you were participating in the negotiations for the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). We are now pleased to share with you the results of the survey, and to say thank you to everyone who participated!

The majority of respondents chose the European Green Deal as the most important investment area for 2021-2027, with Innovation & Research coming in a close second, and Europe Fit for the Digital Age and Rule of Law tying for third. These are key policy areas for the coming year and a lot will be happening with negotiations and discussions on these topics. If you don’t yet subscribe to our ACT campaigns and weekly newsletter Liberal Eyes, make sure you do to stay up-to-date on everything that will take place in Brussels and beyond!

The EU Budget Summit ended last Friday with no deal, so while no date has been set yet, a second summit is highly likely to take place. European leaders struggled to come to an agreement over the proposed budget, with divisions occurring on how to adjust to the deficit after the UK left the EU on 31 January. President of the European Council Charles Michel said in a post-summit interview: “We have worked very hard in order to try to reach different concerns, different interests and different opinions around the table.” President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen added: “This is democracy. We have 27 member states with different interests.”
