On this coming Sunday 5 July, Croatians will cast their votes in the country’s snap parliamentary elections. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the elections – originally planned to take place in December – are being held already now. All five Croatian ALDE member parties are running.

The ruling party of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković runs in coalition with ALDE member Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS). On this list, HSLS President, Dario Hrebak, will be third on the 2^nd constituency for Bjelovar. Croatian People’s Party (HNS) is currently part of the governing coalition but will now run separately. This is also the case for ALDE member Pametno.

ALDE member parties Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) and Civic Liberal Alliance (GLAS) are part of the social block. The broader Restart Coalition gathers IDS, GLAS with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), Pensioner’s Party (HSU), Power (SNAGA) and more regional parties. The coalition is being led by Social Democrat and leader of the Opposition, Davor Bernardić.

According to the polls, the ruling HDZ coalition is in the lead, but with only 2%, whereas Pametno and HNS currently have 4% and 1% respectively.
